The carpet from hell...

I was allergic to grandma's carpet...so it had to go...doesn't hurt that there are hardwoods underneath...

yep...gross and grey...

so mike took it out:

there's some residue from the carpet pad...but we're working on taking that off and cleaning up the floors...it's coming along :) 

My office...

...so we're going to each have an office...so that I have space to work on stuff and lesson plan and grade papers and Mike has space to play video games and whatnot...the transformation of my office looked something like this:  of course you have to remember that the "old" furniture is still in there so it looks kind of like a bedroom but the furniture will be gone soon and then I'll be moving in my desk and stuff in...but you can see my color scheme and theme at least!

I was giggle clapping in there the other day....I frickin' love the colors...can't wait to put MY stuff in there :-D 

The bathroom...

...was for sure our biggest and "toughest" project in the house...

the vanity was too large for the space...the floor was ugly...the wallpaper (in the bathroom!  I couldn't stand it) was peeling and gross...the toilet was super low...all kinds of problems...so it was of course the first  project we really tackled...besides cleaning out of course...

So like I said....ugly everything....when we started....then:

We started taking stuff apart...

Once the room was empty, we put in a new floor:

a new exhaust fan...

some new hardware:

...and a new light and mirror (to replace the crappy medicine cabinet)...

then I stripped the rest of the wallpaper:

then, the painting started:

and with a few finishing touches, we had a new bathroom:
